Frequently Asked Questions

Who Sponsors the Frostfest?
The Frostfest is sponsored by the Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society

Why the change in venue?
We are always trying to make the Frostfest a better event for everyone involved: the commercial and flea market vendors, the hams who show up every year to attend and spend their money, and RATS.We elected to make this move to a much nicer (though more expensive) facility. We believe the new site will be worth the small increases in table prices this year.

The Richmond Raceway Complex is HUGE! Where will Frostfest be held?
We are using over the Commonwealth Building, Henrico Hall, and Colonial Building. Click here to see the map of the complex. The 3 buildings are in the lower left corner by the Main Gate. We will be parking in Lot B and C. There is a gun show next door to us in the Exhibition Hall. (At this time you must pay separately to attend the gun show, and vice-versa.)

What is the Talk-in Frequency?
Talk-in will be on the 146.880 Repeater (– 600). PL is normally 74.4 but will be disabled for Talk-in.

What are the Setup Times for the Frostfest?
Setup times are from 10:00am to 9:45pm Friday February 1st and from 7:00am to 8:00am Saturday February 2nd.

Are Vehicles allowed in the RRC buildings?
Yes! There is drive-in loading available. There is a loading dock and several large entry doors. No load-in or load-out is allowed through the main glass doors in front and rear. YOu may drive in starting at noon on Friday. We request that you drive in, drop your stuff, then exit as quickly as you can. The later in the day, the more difficult it may be to drive in. We reserve the right to stop drive in loading if deemed necessary for safety or other reasons. There is NO drive in loading available on Saturday morning, but you may bring a vehicle back in at 3:30PM (or when deemed safe by Frostfest staff, law enforcement, or RRC staff).

What are the Hours of the event?
The Frostfest will be open at 8:00am for Early Bird ticket holders, 8:30am for everyone else, and will operate until 3:30pm Saturday February 2rd.

Will there be Security at the Frostfest?
Richmond Raceway Complex will remain locked and guarded overnight and ample security will be provided throughout the event.

Do you accept Credit Cards at the Ticket Booth?
YES, we will accept Credit Cards at the event for ticket purchases. There will be separate lines for Cash and Credit/Debit Card ticket purchasers.

Will there be an ATM at the Frostfest?
RRC has an ATM in place. Fees may apply to use the machine. RATS/Frostfest has no control over this service this year.

What are Frostfest Buck$ and how do they work?
Frostfest Buck$ are special certificates we will present to the winner of the Grand Prize. They will total $1000 in redemption value. They can be used as cash at any Frostfest vendor who chooses to accept them. While we encourage vendors to accept Frostfest Buck$, it is each individual's decision. Please ask before presenting Frostfest Buck$ to a vendor in payment. RATS/Frostfest will redeem the coupons to vendors only (they are NOT exchangable for cash except thru vendors who choose to accept them from the winner in lieu of cash for items purchased). Vendors who accept Frostfest Buck$ may bring them to the Frostfest office (located in the "front" of the Colonial Building) between 11:00am and 5:00pm on Saturday, February 2. Frostfest Buck$ have NO VALUE outside of this event, and must be redeemed by 5:00pm Saturday, February 2.
